Why does the soap contain sodium hydroxide?
Sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, is an essential ingredient in the traditional soap-making process. During saponification, it reacts completely with the vegetable oils and is no longer present in the finished soap when the process is properly carried out.

Virtually all solid soaps are produced using this method. Therefore, the use of sodium hydroxide during manufacturing does not affect the natural or organic character of the final product.

Why does the soap contain fragrance?
